WorkSafe WA has just announced that WorkSafe inspectors will visit construction sites across Perth’s northern suburbs from Joondalup to Yanchep, in the last week of August, to check safety standards. Inspectors will focus on the priority areas of electrical safety and working at heights, besides checking whether workers have had the appropriate induction training, and have High Risk Work Licences where required.WorkSafe WA inspection

They will also look at edge protection and scaffolding and Safe Work Method Statements. WorkSafe Director Chris Kirwin stated that “Employer associations have been notified of the inspection program, so we anticipate that employers will be aware of what will be required when inspectors visit,” Mr Kirwin said.“We firmly believe that raising awareness with proactive programs is the best way in which to lessen the risk of work-related injury and illness.”

It is their aim that WorkSafe’s construction inspectors will help employers to identify the risks to the safety and health of their workers and give them information on how to comply with workplace safety laws.
